Privacy Policy

Unsere rechtlichen Seiten (Datenschutz und Nutzungsbedingungen) werden derzeit nur auf Englisch gepflegt. Die englische Version ist verbindlich. Übersetzungen können folgen.

This is the privacy policy for Get Stack Smart ("the site", "we", "us"). It explains what personal information we collect, why we collect it, and what your rights are. The plain-English version: we collect as little as we can, we do not sell anything to anyone, and you can ask us to delete what we have at any time.

Who we are

Get Stack Smart is a small review site for solopreneurs and one-person businesses. For privacy questions or requests, contact hello@getstacksmart.com.

What we collect and why

Email addresses (when you take the quiz)

When you complete the quiz on the site, you can choose to submit your email address. We use it to send you the personalised stack recommendation report. We store the email and your quiz answers in our database so we can re-send the report if it fails to deliver and improve future recommendations. We do not share, sell, or rent your email to anyone.

Cookies set by us

We use a small number of first-party cookies, all set client-side:

  • theme — remembers whether you chose light, dark, or system theme.
  • NEXT_LOCALE — remembers your selected language across visits.

These cookies hold preferences only. They do not identify you and they are not shared with third parties. You can clear them in your browser settings at any time.

Analytics

We use Google Analytics 4 to understand which pages get read and how visitors arrive. Google Analytics sets cookies in your browser to recognise return visits and measure session activity. We have IP-anonymisation enabled, so the IP address sent to Google is truncated before being logged. We see aggregate counts (page views, referrers, country-level location, browser type). We do not see your name, email address, or anything that personally identifies you.

Google's handling of this data is governed by their privacy policy: policies.google.com/privacy. You can opt out of Google Analytics across all sites by installing Google's opt-out browser add-on.

Server logs

Our hosting provider keeps standard server logs (IP address, user-agent string, request URL) for short periods, typically 14 to 30 days. These are used for security and debugging, not for tracking individuals.

Affiliate links

Some links on the site are affiliate links. When you click through and sign up to a recommended tool, the tool may pay us a small commission at no extra cost to you. The recipient (the tool provider) may set their own cookies once you arrive on their site; their privacy policies, not ours, apply at that point. We do not see your behaviour on their sites.

Email service

We send transactional emails (your quiz report, follow-up confirmations) via Resend. Your email address is shared with Resend solely to deliver these messages. Resend is a GDPR-compliant email infrastructure provider; their privacy policy is at resend.com/legal/privacy-policy.

Your rights

Under GDPR, UK GDPR, and similar laws elsewhere, you have the right to:

  • Ask us what personal data we hold about you
  • Ask us to correct anything that is inaccurate
  • Ask us to delete the data we hold
  • Lodge a complaint with your data protection regulator if you believe we have mishandled your data

To exercise any of these, email hello@getstacksmart.com from the address you signed up with. We will respond within 30 days, usually sooner.

Data retention

We keep quiz responses and email addresses for as long as the site operates, unless you ask us to delete them. We may anonymise your responses (remove your email, keep the aggregate answers) for product improvement.

Children

The site is not directed at children under 16. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe we have, contact us and we will delete it.

International transfers

Your data may be processed in the country where our hosting provider operates servers, which is typically the United States or European Union. Where required by law, we use Standard Contractual Clauses to safeguard data transfers.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy when our practices change or laws require it. The "Last updated" date at the top reflects the most recent revision. Material changes will be announced on the site.
